11.06.2010 - 13.06.2010 Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, Ausstellungsstrasse 60, 8031 Zurich
The Idea It is not our target to create a „conventional exhibition“ We will display Bonsai and Suiseki in an unusual exhibition architecture, especially designed to show their value. The trees will not be put on tables (all at the same hight), but particularly placed, individually arranged at the right level for the visitor. The exhibition will be illuminated so as to give every tree the best lighting. For a limited amount of trees, we will build so called Tokonamas.
The Place The EBA convention is taking place in 2010 in Zürich. This City is among the most beautiful and most multicultural in Switzerland The Building was built around 1930 in Bauhaus style and is placed today under protection of historical buildings and monuments. We have great luck to be allowed to make the exhibition happen in the premises of the Museum of Design Zürich. The Museum of Design Zürich ist the most important and also largest Museum of Switzerland concerned with design, visual communication and architecture.
The Museum Hall The most beautiful Bonsai and Suiseki from Europe will be displayed in the great hall on a surface of about 1000 m2.
The Lecture Hall An exhibition area of 300m2, equipped with state of the art of audio-visual technology, where design demos, lectures, talks and film presentations can take place.
Lowered garden / pond This modern pond lends itself as a place of rest and as a location for a snack for the hungry or tired visitor
Lounge/provisioning The museum houses a cafeteria in the lounge that tends to the visitors. In close vicinity, many different restaurants offer a multitude of foods.

Convention Program |
Information about bringing bonsai into Switzerland:
You don’t need any special paper, to cross the Swiss border. It is the same as if you visit an exhibition in Belgium or Germany or where ever in Europe.
Additionally, the organizers have planned to send each EBA Delegate a confirmations-list/letter/invitation with the trees which are registered, to show to the officer at the border if needed. |
